someone who looked and sounded exactly like Craner's bete noire Owen Hatherley attracted huge emergency services presence today (lifeboat, policeboat, multiple paramedics, policemen) after walking some way into the river Thames.
"I dipped my fucking feet in the river. IS THAT A CRIME? leave me alone. stop gawping at me. why is everyone looking at me? FUCK OFF all of you FUCK OFF'

i was wondering yesterday if it's possible to be friends with a successful person. not mega successful, just moderately. i think probably not, not really.

if by successful you mean rich, then yes it's possible. but if you mean successful in terms of being well-known, moderate celebs, then that's harder because they probably aren't one person anymore, they start to live a dual life, personal and public. they're the real person you know, but also always have their eye on their public image, cognizant of what they always need to say or do to maintain the public persona. then you start wondering which is the real person. maybe neither.

Mr. Tea

Let's Talk About Ceps
I'm mates with Rhik Samadder, who is successful enough at what he does to have a blue tick against his name on Twitter. I wouldn't say we're close, exactly, but we first met over 20 years ago as undergraduates and know each other pretty well.

The last few times we've seen each other, I wouldn't say his success has really changed the way we interact that much. Then again, he is the sort of person who is almost always putting on a performance of some sort for whoever he is around at the time, so you could say that he's always been an actor, it's just that he's started to make a good living from it more recently.
