I bet Patti Smith was like that with Burroughs too. You see those clips of all these younger artists at his house, reciting poetry and stuff, and it's just painful.
theres actually a book that details this by victor bokris. its just the transcripts. they all make you cringe yourself inside out but the worst by far is Lou Reed

i havent' will you tell me about it or do i have to look it up?
don't worry i can tell you, its interesting its a thinly veiled story about the last years of Richard Wright(wrote Native Son) as it is the main character in the book thinking back on his experiences and journey going from NY to Amsterdam,West Africa and his time as a soldier, author journalist aswell as it is in the latter part of the book about the King Alfred Plan which is this CIA led plot where in order to deal with the threat of a black uprising they put everyone of African descent in concentration camps and eliminate them.

finished reading The Terrible Twos a while back its a fun and as usual he goes at multiple targets ranging from Harry Truman to Christmas as an insitution (Santa Claus starts a riot in times square) but it did feel kind of scattershot and cause there's such a large cast you kinda get lost in the mix.

But there's some potent moments in there especially as the title suggest he compares Americans temperament to that of a two year old toddler

his point about the tokenisation of black authors by way of Baldwin is a great point. I'd be very interested to know how many people here could say they're familiar with the authors he lists off in this

@luka by right should remember John A Williams since i did reccomend the man who cried i am to him forever ago
