Salon des Amateurs legend Lena Willikens (Comeme, Dekmantel) joins Invisible Sounds joint leaders Lizatron and Idle Rich at Cosmos Campolide - 10 euros
The second of two events - a slightly more chilled follow up to the megaparty at Arroz Studios the day before

Lena Wilikens
Having honed her skills at the legendary Salon des Amateurs in Dusseldorf Lena has taken her unique DJ-ing style around the world, as well as forming a devastating team with Vladimir Ivkovic she hosts the Lightning Conducting show on NTS and curated the 5th edition of Dekmantel's Selectors.
Far from playing the hits she prefers to nimbly negotiate the darkest and most bizarre corners of electronic music, sampling different moods and textures to truly transport the dance-floor

Lizatron
Half of the Invisible Sounds DJ team and label, Lizatron is no stranger to the dance floor having spun her out-there sounds all round Europe and spread the word even further with her regular show on Threads.
Now Lizatron is taking over Portugal, as well as regular gigs in Lisbon and Porto she is now booking international artists and here she curates this spectacular event along with its sister the day before

IdleRich
The other half of Invisible Sounds joins his partner in crime and drags some of his insane record collection down to Cosmos to provide a suitably whacked out support for the ladies.

That's before she plays here though so hiding in suitcase wouldn't help...
Will be cool though, they are a good team together.

I dunno, might do. I do wanna go soon, but there's other nights that are a better fit for me, they've got klein on in January.

I saw Helena hauff there a while ago and it wax alright but a bit too packed and gurny, I feel like willkens will be a similar vibe to that. Whereas I tend to prefer the nights where there's a big more space.

But it's been so long it might have all changed.

This was an absolutely amazing night. After big(ish) party on Friday at Arroz Studios we followed up with this more chilled out thing at Cosmos... well known to @suspended and @snav of course it's a tiny and intimate spot for someone like Lena to play and it was just so much fun. The crowd loved it, Lena loved it and, most importantly of all, I loved it.The vibe was perfect. We were a little unsure about booking someone to play two gigs like that in two days but it worked so well, I think in the new year we hope to repeat this idea with other DJs from abroad, doing a full on rocking party one night and then a totally different thing where the guest can really be relaxed and play whatever they like. The only thing I would change is that ideally we would also do a gig in Porto too next time around.

Thanks very much mate.... to be honest though, I did very little on this one. We know Lena a little from DJ-ing in Germany but it was Liza's idea to try and book her, then Liza contacted her and she agreed to play for us (and at a very reasonable price), then it was Liza's idea to make it an all women thing and after that she did all of work in terms of dealing with her agency and also with the venues, and she found the guy who did the posters. And she put the posters up (having even mixed up the glue). When you get right down to it, my main role was picking Lena up from the airport and driving her around for food and stuff and just being there as a kind of general dogsbody in case anything was ever needed (but it never was). Having spent more time with her like that I realise that she is a really lovely person. Great DJ who can play totally crazy stuff and take the notoriously conservative Lisbon crowd with her, but also really sweet to hang around with.

And this is what we hope to do in future, obviously we can't compete with Lux in terms of the money that we offer but what we can do is, instead of putting guests up in a faceless hotel and giving them the standard "artist's dinner" we can let them stay in our flat and if they want to have a holiday we show them around the town and so on. Lena said that she knew that she could trust us to look after her like that but she didn't realise that the party would be better than any of the times she had played before in Portugal - also she really liked the smaller place and said that no-one books her for that intimate sort of thing any more.

I'm hoping that if we can do a few events where the DJ has loads of fun playing AND enjoying hanging around for a few days then maybe word will get around a bit and more people will be interested to play. And at the same time, if we can keep booking good people and putting on good parties then maybe people in Lisbon will start to see us as a mark of quality and will trust us when we have slightly smaller names... I dunno, that's the dream but with Covid it's all totally in the balance of course. DJ Assault played a couple of weeks before but they changed the rules after I bought the ticket and I thought I couldn't go so I made other plans... and then they changed the rules back and I could have gone but I missed out. I was really worried that something like that could happen and mess up the whole thing for us.

Just so you know, my prices are very reasonable.
