what you get with philadelphia and how it was influential on my writing is the sense of language, words, under pressure, tension, torque. torsion. you get it in black thought. you get it in beans. you get it in vodka.
they're very good at that Joey Jihad, Chic Raw , Dutch and Spade-O , Ar-Ab & Dark Lo even Uzi Vert people forget he's from Philly

and they all seem to have really unique flows aswell

I like his they're throwing their bodies into it, using their hands, the gestures and facial expressions.

The first ones good cos of how he's using silence, the pauses.

thats what was attracting people to their scene basically wasnt it they were still on the corner in a big coat and a wooly hat.
pretty much even with people like Sloan and Skiano, Uzi and whoever it's still a place where its all about being able to rap but not in that backpack rap way or UK rap way where it's like you have to be hyper technical or people do backflips over man saying "see a op right thurr and get Chingy" (Digga D's not a bad rapper but come on now)

I like Young Zee though from that same generation as rappers like Redman and Rah Digga (both from Jersey the latter he married and has a daughter with) where they're lyrical but in a sense of "i can say whatever i want, i love language and words are playthings to me", also what i've always liked with Zee is he's got a way of making you hang onto his words wondering what he's gonna say next.

Some rappers it feels like they just want to get to the next punchline as fast as possible and that can work in its own way (i find alot of Japanese comedy does that) but it has this rising and lowering effect with Zee for me

Vodka similiarly has the same thing but there's a level of pathos there (yes i typed out pathos) but when he decides to switch it on he can really dazzle you, he's got some good songs and they retain much of the same quality but freestyle stuff like this where he takes you on these narratives, starts of with a bar repeats it again builds off of it into something else.

Maybe its just cause i've always preferred the company of olders and i think about how some of them ended up and certain people i know who complain about "the zoomers" and then have this existential crisis about turning 30 and how things from a decade ago are influencing things now but i think about the bar with the 53 year old prisoner alot.

also hopefully for the only time gonna break my rules and add a 3rd track, here's Jermaine Dupri, Snoop Dogg and Warren G over a DJ Premier beat

woops

is not like other people
got me watching this now, so good
i like this too very impressive amount of lyrics and delivery.one thing i'd say is when that indian-sounding beat comes on the guy chic raw? doesn't seem to sit quite right on it but when the next & tighter beat comes in he's right in there.
