the 2000s: worst era in recorded music?

did anyone mention 'microhouse' aka 'mnml' yet? all that music out of Germany, Kompakt, Michael Mayer, et al. Now that is some 'moderately diverting at the time', utterly forgotten / forgettable echt-2000s shit if ever there was...
Idk, I'd defend some of this. the background muzak aspect was a quality in itself.

Being a teenager in the early 2000s was weird, perhaps the first generation to know we were living through a moment of stasis and decline? Going over to your mates who had Sky TV and seeing this shit on Kerrang! or whatever:

Oh yeah, girlfriend had stories about meeting that guy... unpleasantly persistent apparently.

well I'm not talking about things with assigned seats and toasts etc - but e.g. having people in your living room, eating food, that you might have cooked, but equally might have ordered in. In that context, a little bit of Herbert 'Around the House' or a Kompakt komp is very close to old man Satie's musique d'ameublement - 'softening the clatter of knives upon plates' - not too intrusive to interfere with conversation but not insultingly bland. just a notch above audio-decor

this is not meant to be an un-damning evaluation of the music

also good to work to, which i think accounts for some of its popularity with music journalists and such like. perky but not dominating.

I don't mind some of that stuff. It's very naff and polite and 'graphic design', but I've gotten lost in Loop-Finding-Jazz-Records before,

Jan Jelinek consistenly popular. That album fetched quite a lot on discogs, until rerelease a few years ago. He's still doing quite fine stuff nowadays.

Stuff like Vlad delay, snd also holds up.

This is quintessentially click n cuts, too pristine a beauty to be a wallpaper track :

was the decade where you had a big increase in amateurs, both in terms of ability (grime, etc, all those soundcloud rappers, or was that a very 2010s thing?, something like dubstep sounded a bit too pro in some ways, but then i was just listening to too much grime), but also audio recording. rise of ppl recording at home, not knowing what they were doing, not caring, or people recording in a studio and still sounding like they were at home (grime again, the libertines). i think someone here talked about how a lot of modern songs sound 2D compared to 3D 90s songs, and i think thats true. a lot of modern production sounds thin and dimensionless. all just part n parcel of digital defaults i suppose but something about nor many people caring to make it better unless youre adele or whoever.
