its so profoundly boring that even computer enthusasits and top level professional coders such as sufi, gus and poetix say its the most boring inconsequential thing in all the universe

its fundamentally inherently uninteresting
Yeah I can understand this, ultimately. After all blockchain is just a collection of protocols for computers to follow, not unlike IP and TCP and HTTP, all things that most people would find boring.

I’m inclined to argue that some of the solutions blockchain offers are to problems so fundamental that most people do not even see them, such as how monetary policy seems more or less entirely at the mercy of individuals in closed rooms.

But beyond some of these solutions, much of the innovation is pure innovation, rather than applied innovation.

Money-laundering on one hand, totalitarian surveillance on the other. Poles between which to find a balance.

One of the biggest downsides to blockchain, in my opinion, is that it promises to enable irresponsible financial institutions and other wealthy actors to sublimate more of their wealth into complexity beyond the reach of state revenue agencies like the IRS.

beyond promises, it’s live and actualised

I think it’s obvious that the elite will benefit from this technology considerably more, but that it may still have a significant positive impact on the middle class, even the unbanked and otherwise less enfranchised.

Let’s see, for example, how adopted crypto ATMs become. This may be the first time that an unbanked person can get directly involved in capital markets.

But anyway this thread needn’t revolve around blockchain per se, more around the different kinds of livelihoods (or supplements to livelihoods) that can be enabled.

Dude the promises are still way beyond the achieved actuality, believe it or not. The cutting edge of this tech is still just warming up.

If you ran a cartel or moved raw heroin by the ton, where would you move your assets? Macrogigs. Coming from the drug world I know, organised crime is always one step beyond idealised promises actualising monetising systems beyond currently understood protocols

There are multiple worlds of possibilities you see in the potential of this thing and then there’s millennia old rottenness of human nature. Somewhere in the middle might give you a spectrum that lasts and evolves further, but monetising anything for monetising’s sake should invoke an ethics committee. How do you tally values with value?
