Well 'MD', who writes a column in Private Eye actually is a doctor, and he addressed this very problem:

Tl,dr; is that while a lockdown was necessary and justified, the lockdown we got was dogshit, because it relied on coercion and fear rather than cooperation, wrongly treated all groups as equally vulnerable, and ludicrously restricted people meeting friends and family outdoors for exercise while most of us were either WFH or furloughed (while even preliminary evidence was showing that this was very low-risk), so people stayed at home instead, getting fat(ter) and drunk(er), to say nothing of the impact on mental health.

This seems a bit more likely than thousands of people dying of heart attacks every week due a vaccine with a known risk of causing (non-fatal) heart conditions at a rate of 1 in 250,000.

Plus the obvious fact that the NHS is even more fucked now than it was two years ago.

Some new research just published today just 'found that about 25% of people who are recovering from COVID-19 have signs of increased clotting that are “quite marked and unusual”' and this is a drop in the ocean of serious research on the topic.

At the very least, it makes more basic sense that the virus that has been allowed to run completely rampant, hitting insane and protracted levels of infection across the entire population since December with virtually no mitigations is the cause, rather than a vaccine program that was heavily monitored for safety and essentially stopped last winter.

As for 'virtually no mitigations', that's the point of the vaccines: Ferguson's paper said mitigate until vax (as the vax are THE mitigation), not destroy society til eternity
