Just idle thoughts but the difference between the two parallel trains of discussion a few pages ago is not just that the grime era was a period where the internet intellectuals were embracing a new culture that was occurring around them, but also that they were part of the ecosystem within the city- jungle to garage to grime etc.

Though these have now become digital artifacts and harder to reconcile within original context, incidental threads about globally successful or recognisable figures attempting to emulate past analysis cannot ring true and fails at the first hurdle. Statements like

May well be true but this is a weakness one must attempt to reconcile internally or you are resigned to forever remaining in the shadow to those who have experienced and lived within cultures, or attempted to harness some kind of energy from them

This might not matter really; i know loads of people with what i perceive as horrible or non-existent taste in music who live mad lives and do all kinds of interesting shit, but i certainly wouldnt accept any kind of cultural summary from them, least of all any kind of dismissal based on youtube and limited attempts at excursions into the unknown

Particularly when the music in this thread is so clearly vapid and shite

that's not how it works. they have a ban system. if you get 51 flags you are banned. obviously, people can gang up against you and then act like little crybabies trying to convince everyone else you are a problem poster. It's your ideal democracy. I think you'll love it.
