there is something interestingly perverse about people who join a group and make a point of opposing all the group-values.
im not suggesting we should respect his difference, i agree with thrid, we should steamroller him flat if we can, but it's
interesting and you can admire it to a degree

i guess you are a bit like this come to think of it! never stopped giving me grief when you turned up!

But I'm not antithetical to the value set of dissensus. I like craner soul, house, techno, jungle, hip hop, reggae.

I just like free jazz, scronk, dave clarke as well, and don't see a contradiction there, because the oppositions are only in the minds of journalists and certain cognoscenti, not yer average london punter who is happy to dance to 92 hardcore as they are purist techno.

I'm a non-ironic and non-democratic populist, which is precisely why I don't need to define myself as being a poptimist, because poptimism is for rockists in denial. Most average music fans are not poptimists. They listen sonically, not ideologically. Which is why I hate pitchfork. They have no concept of acousmatic listening. For them sound is never concrete, it always has to be linked to some kind of (badly mastered) goldsmiths/UC Burkley I'm now editing novara/current affairs magazine sociology personal midlife crisis projection oh my god the world is so fucked Lee Gamble brain fart.
