Love

Noble in the sound which
marks the pale ease
of their dreams, they ride
the bel canto of our
time: the patient en-
-circlement of Narcissus &
as he pines I too
am wan with fever,
have fears which set
the vanished child above
reproach. Cry as you
will, take what you
need, the night is young
and limitless our greed.

yeah that's a good one i like it too but there's nothing short about it, at least not in the "bite-size" sense.
i dont like this one cos i think if you're going to write a smart arsed two line meta-epigram you could at least not use a crap half rhyme

sorry if im not really getting into the spirit of the thread

it's a particularly bad half rhyme i'd say because it's not even like someone rhyming "love" and "grove", which don't rhyme, but it's trying to rhyme "refuses" with a word that doesn't rhyme with it, but does rhyme with another sense of "uses" ie the verb sense so it's just a mess

But it's fucking OLD, you were allowed to do that back then. Thomas Campion

yeah i know but it does my head in and that's why i think my point stands. how old is it anyway?

graves was doing that stuff and i don't reckon "have" rhymed with "slave" 100 years ago.

ODI ET AMO

I hate and love. Why? You may ask but
It beats me. I feel it done to me, and ache.
