The whole point of it is that it is Internet music made by people who never log off. Who have only ever consumed music over the Internet. They themselves are aware of the problem. Mvuent and other_life for example have talked poignantly about this very malaise. And they situate what emotional resonance Internet music has in this sense of paralysis

You know it's not enough but it's all you have and there are no obvious ways of escaping it

Anyway I’m trying to figure out where politics comes into this because nobody my age in the UK really listens to dubstep, and student club culture when it isn’t pop charts or throwback nights is just decontextualised white boy vanity projects (bristol woii dnb; the most bland depressing Ross from friends house)

At least Ross From Friends is getting people out dancing. In a room. Together.

The irony of bashing this modern house trend as 'decontextualised white boy vanity projects' is that is EXACTLY what Break/glitchcore was.

Doormouse, Shitmat, Alec Empire, Venetian Snares, Enduser, Bong-Ra, even Squarepusher. Isolated, decontextualised white boy projects each and every one.

and our young, or at least younger members have responded in various different ways. @Clinamenic has renounced the cultural field entirely in favour of cryptocurrency and a pseudo-religious beleif in the self-organising properties of Capitalism, thirdform has renounced all new music and has buried himself ever deeper in the Archive searching for unexplored possibilities, cancelled futures and paths not taken, Gus has embraced Nihilism and so on and so forth

barty has put his chips on the Black Music Establishment but this has really only ever been a source of inspiration for England, not the main show itself. alone it can't sustain us here. really its just The Spectacle.

It's about the microtimbral variations. A psychodelic groove that constantly commands your attention through its unceaseless morph. The whole is contained within the one. Part of the reason why pop dance mixes like those on ILM (I Love Music) are so boredom inducing is because they don't use the turntables as a shovel and a daisy cutter (one vocal after another, after another.) It's about embracing the jars and the clangs, the feverish need to cram more and more information into the flow without losing the trance state.

Dub as methodology for secularists.
im not convinced there is a groove for what its worth. theres a pulse, but not a groove. its more rudimentary than that.

ok that's more reasonable the elder part i can agree with, so since you've laid out, gus, third, barty and clina's responses i've noticed you didn't bring up mine
