as far as rock by krauts i like it best when it is spooky and atmospheric. less so when it is rocky. and not so much when it is twee.

the most contagiously exciting music writing i've ever come across, but i've said all this elsewhere on forum

i once downloaded a job lot of painfully dull klaus schulze albums, all with dreadful titles like 'timewind'

To be fair, you only like music that is spoon fed to you, like a child. What have you downloaded randomly that you have thought yep, I'm keeping this?

alright, that's harsh, but you have no patience with any music.

I think all phases of cluster/harmonia were amazing, they were the best krautrock band. I always used to think CAN were but I had a period of about 3 months a couple of years ago when cluster was all I listened to. I probably like Sowiesoso the best, but got cluster 1 on again now and whooosh! Cluster 2 is also great but the recording quality is a bit crap compared to the first one iirc.

Never really got into tangerine dream that much though, always thought they were a bit boring. Is there a consensus best place to start?

I am currently listening to some dodgy looking best of tangerine dream (lol!) comp on Spotify

Had no idea they did stuff like this, 60s nuggets style psych

I have to admit that my "it all went downhill after 1980" was a poser stance and this is actually one of my favourites.., I'm a sucker for scraping on a cello...

Klaus Schulze - Trancefer ( 1981 )

That Lester bangs review I posted is a very entertaining read btw but I think it might have put me off them a bit when I first read it back in the 90s
