this thread is for your daily meditation log where you write down your observations from inside the glass cage
what im interested in, personally, is how people conceptualise and articulate this non event, this utterly boring
demarcated passage of time. what distinctions and discriminations are being made? what is considered success
and what failure?

it goes without saying this thread is strictly for beautiful souls only. if you dont walk the spiritual path you dont belong here.
that means you Oliver Craner.

the thing about a nice sit down is that it never occurs to you to think, am i doing this right, could i do it another way, could i do it better? no self-consciousness gets introduced into the process. youre just sitting down in a pleasant fug of unbeing with all your burdens lifted, spine bent into an improbable shape, breathing in wretched little gasps, completely happy.

there's really an endless number of attitudes you can adopt it really throws you into arbitrariness in that sense, with no reason to choose one thing over another. you can be blank, gormless, soft, hawklike, alert, sleepy, wryly amused, irritable etc etc ad infinitum

the mantra technique is effective I think. Whats tricky is finding a mantra you cant hang too much on. 'Om' is theoretically a perfect one but its cliché and the quiet mind will latch on to that

The moments after meditation are what you do it for in my experience. the actual act of meditating as already said in here isnt all that great, but theres something to be said for the quiet you get after opening your eyes again. like waking up next to a napping loved one

it's definitely a better way to start the day than looking at your phone, or, as Craner, horrifingly, is in the habit of, immediately switching on the 24 hour news channel for footage of war and destruction.
