so @catalog which Everett book are you looking to start with then? by right considering your semiotics/symbolism and philosophy interests he should be up your street.

and you can't come and say that he's lacking in humour either because his books can be very funny

I started Trees last night - immediately engaged. In some ways he reminds me of Roth in those Zuckerman novels - dancing around not only the obvious and overt racism but also the taboos of his own culture to create both comedy and outrage.

Dr No is more like Sidney Poitier. Very playful, as always lots going on but also rattling along plot wise. I think it’d appeal to the Pynchon fans especially as it’s got lots of maths jokes in it
