Bit of a different one here, just me at Le Baron digging out a load of garage, psych, funk n soul sevens that I never get the chance to play at the moment, playing from 10pm until midnight or later... fiver in.

This kinda gear all night

Just slapping on one bullet after another from start to finish.

Yeah but there is this thing called the internet which means that lots of people can read it, wherever they are based and whether or not they are a member. From my point of view it's very useful cos I can use it as a kinda "events page" and share this link instead of writing out the info every time I want to tell a person or even loads of people.

woops

is not like other people
i know i know i'm just being silly cos i like your enthusiasm. who knows maybe the next dissensus meet up can be a "lad's holiday" style jaunt to the land of peri peri.

would that thing called the internet also contain the favela discos mix mentioned last week? perhaps you can post that too.

Yeah man, like I say, they normally put it on a week or two after the show goes out live and then they notify us... still waiting just now.

respect for that record collection, rich. I love doing the same thing, pulling handfuls off the shelf and playing them. many of mine are also bought on the cheap, G/VG condition. I'm not a collector who's going to pay top dollar for VG+/Mint, usually get them for $1-2 at used record stores or garage sales. the scratches and scuffs are part of each record's history.

Thanks @Leo these are definitely the opposite of museum pieces, for playing and not for looking at. There was a time when I really wanted to get originals and rarities but as long as they are good enough to play out then I didn't care about condition... in fact, me getting my hands on anything better than vgplus is not a good thing cos I'll probably spill beer on them so I'd rather get a battered one as long as there is no bacon frying...
But these days I am less interested in searching down original rarities if there is a reissue and less willing to pay big money for records. I fucking love some of these sevens though and yesterday I was finding all these killers I'd forgotten about and getting overexcited... I packed way too many for the set I'm playing. Can't wait for Tuesday!

There was a guy on the Blood & Fire reggae forum who once made the bold assertion that "if you don't own the OG vinyl, then you don't own the tune", which, personally, I thought the most ridiculous thing I may have ever read. Sure, it's nice to have the original vinyl, but sometimes it is impossible unless you have Bezos/Musk scale finances, and with reggae, sometimes the reissues sound better... and if that guy was right and I "don't own the tune" then I am wondering who does own a lot of my records?

I have a self-imposed limit for how much I will pay for one record, but I discovered that browsing discogs while drunk is a bad idea, and somehow the ceiling has got higher and higher...

worst part about discogs is shipping costs. you might find a great record for $5, but it cost $12 to ship it to the States.

I wonder where he stands on NFTs...

after Brexit I tried to keep discogs orders to UK only ( due to 18 euro postal costs, etc., ), but every so often there will be a record I really "need" and I just have to suck it up. Post from US to UK is even worse, it cost me $25 for the last record I bought, but considering the high price of the vinyl it seemed liked pocket change at the time ( when I pressed "buy" I'd had more rum and cokes than is perhaps good for my bank account )

Er, I read the email wrong, it's actually FREE to get in, NOT five as I initially said, sorry about that - you can probably make it work now, right woops?
