Funny, I just saw this pop up in my recommendations, and my first thought was that it belonged on Dissensus.

In fact, I'd have trouble conceiving of a more Dissensian thing. Maybe if Zizek did a cultural critique of rave culture or something.

heidegger thinks of Nietzsche as the ultimate end of western metaphysics but it seems to me that deleuze is a further step in its trajectory, representing no longer simply the will to power as an end in itself but now as the dissolution of the subject into the "will to will", with culture as an undirected probe-head evolving without any aim at all.

deleuze therefore appears to be the pre-eminent theorist of digital capitalism / techno rationalism, predicting the dominance of "AI" and the ascendancy of the machines.

however the problem for deleuzians and the deluezian vision of the future can be seen from the analogy with drum machines, which is that drum machines need to be programmed. it's not simply about what the drum machine can do but also what the operator of the drum machine can do with it

I think a deluzian would respond that a drum machine merely needs to be turned on

I picked up Anti-Oedipus again recently. I'm about halfway through and just read an incredibly tedious section on incest that went completely over my head and made me never want to read the word "filiation" ever again.

I know it's supposed to be difficult, but can't help feeling not having read Marx, Freud, Lacan and Nietzsche beforehand is making it that much more difficult.
You can do what I did, and just watch a ton of lectures. It's no replacement, but you can get the gist of a lot of this stuff that way.
