The Depopulation Agenda

The inside of a tokamak -- the doughnut-shaped vessel designed to contain a nuclear fusion reaction -- presents a special kind of chaos. Hydrogen atoms are smashed together at unfathomably high temperatures, creating a whirling, roiling plasma that's hotter than the surface of the sun. Finding smart ways to control and confine that plasma will be key to unlocking the potential of nuclear fusion, which has been mooted as the clean energy source of the future for decades. At this point, the science underlying fusion seems sound, so what remains is an engineering challenge.

That's where DeepMind comes in.

So much for the depopulation agenda:

"“Over the next few decades, migration will be the sole driver of population growth in high-income countries. By contrast, for the foreseeable future, population increase in low-income and lower-middle-income countries will continue to be driven by an excess of births over deaths,” the UN wrote."

Fine. But it doesn't really seem that Europe are keen on taking on millions of African immigrants just like that. And I doubt China and the rest of East Asia want to either.

And even if they did, it won't solve the problem. Population decline will come to Africa eventually as well and then humanity will slowly grow more or less extinct. So much for climate hysteria.

"More or less extinct", you fucking clown, lol.

Why is that you lot see either obviously unsustainable growth for ever or literal extinction as the only two possible options?

We won't go extinct "we" will be outbred by those who value children most, most likely the Amish or alike.

What's your definition of "unsustainable growth"?

That's also you lot, surely. The neo-Malthusian tendency that drives climate anxiety.
There's such a thing as unsustainable de-growth. Watch for symptoms like famine, cannibalism, Dark Ages.
All growth is unsustainable in the long run, obviously.
Sigh. No, it is not.
Consider the phenomenon known as "life" on planet earth. It has been growing uninterrupted for several billion years now. Humanity is not just another species, it's a recapitulation of the phenomenon of life, in all its variety, but innovating on a substrate of synthetics and information technology, not mere proteins and organisms. Thicko.

I've said it before, this misconception about the limited nature of natural resources comes from an uncritical acceptance of the notable Stanford moron Paul Ehrlich's demented writings in the late 1960s. It's a failure in your imagination, not in nature's insane fecundity and our unstoppable innovation. When have we ever run out of anything, actually?

So, to summarize:

* Humans are different and special
* Unlike all other animal species, we don't require land to live on, or consume resources, or produce waste, and
* There are tons of examples of species whose populations have continually increased ever since they first evolved, and are still increasing now, of which you are about to supply some examples

Something like that? I'm a bit of a thicko, so if you could elucidate each of these points, that would be just great, thanks.

ok, not very specific then
Well new records are being set for extreme weather events every single year, in all parts of the world, for one thing. You'd need to have your head pretty thoroughly buried in the sand not to have noticed.

Was your appetite for humiliation not sated in the Israel/Palestine thread a couple of months back?

To be clear, it was the irony of being called "thicko" by a moron who reacted to his divorce/mid-life crisis by importing his new personality wholesale from what some edgy racist Midwestern teenagers were saying on 4chan about a decade ago.

That didn't land, sorry. Don't make it about me — I simply won't tolerate non-entities like you having temerity to pipe up with their shit takes.

Question: Have you ever read a book or had a thought not pre-appoved by George Monbiot and his ilk?
