If we avoid nuclear apocalypse then it seems clear that this will be a major victory for US hegemony, at least in the short term. Europe back under NATOs umbrella, transatlantic relationship repaired, the old enemy humiliated and/or stuck in a quagmire of endless insurgency and sanctions, GOP Russophiles exposed and scurrying for cover, arms flowing across the atlantic like the (rapidly diminishing) gulf stream. The constraint of Russian disinfo and soft power destabilisation alone would be major triumph.

The question is if any of these gains offset the relatively minor increase in gas prices at the pump in whatever remains of the minds of American voters.
