You may vote three times. Don't ask why, and do not quibble over the options, there are only 10 possible.

can someone please tell me which ones to vote for? haven't listened to any of them except kraftwerk since high school.

Harmonia will lose out because of the cluster/neu split which is a shame cos I think they're better than neu and probably the only good 'supergroup' ever.

Went for Neu! 'cos of 'Negativland', which sounds like a dry run for Cabaret Voltaire.

The only Can song I've heard that didn't plunge me into into a 4-hour snooze is "I Want More". Don't get this band's appeal, on any level?

Faust - some stuff off "The Faust Tapes" and "Faust IV" is OK. Mind you, some of it is insufferable hippy twaddle.

Kraftwerk were only really good from "Trans Europe Express" onwards, no? Haven't heard the traffic cone albums. I actually knew one of their cousins in SE London, he was a karate black belt. "Autobahn" sounds like something from 'Playschool'. "Computer World" is the best IMO, so voted for them too.

Cluster - recall some early album with a woman banging on over clanking noises, that was supposed to be 'proto-industrial'. Obviously didn't like it enough to keep the files. Somebody on here recommended me "Zuckerzeit", which is probably cool if you like music that makes you think of commuters with jetpacks zipping past gleaming gherkin office blocks in an alternative 2022 where Trish Keenan became world president, but it does nothing for me.

Harmonia - never heard of 'em!

Amon Duul II - Amon DULL more like. Complete shit.

Ash Ra Temple - always get this lot mixed up with Taj Mahal Travellers - I guess their grandfathers all fought on the same side. From what little I've heard on Youtube, doubt I'll investigate any further.

Popol Vuh - boring and pompous, makes Gong sound like Big Black, THOUGH I do like Klaus Weise's later forays into the new age tape market with his singing bowl experiments.

Tangerine Dream - sounds like incidental music on a GCSE biology video.

Anyway, that's what I think of krautrock.

Tangerine Dream, Can and Kraftwerk. There are a few decent Faust and Popol Vuh tunes too, but I'm not that arsed about krautrock in general tbh.

I love krautrock especially motorik stuff... from that list I would definitely go for the obvious three of Can, Neu! and Kraftwerk.

Cluster, Harmonia, Kraftwerk - felt mean leaving Can out but I love the first two most of all.

Quite a lot of krautrock fans on dissensus then. I went for kraftwerk, can and cluster fwiw and I see they're the top three so cool.

Most people are over it now. The cachet lay in the obscurity which the Internet has now exploded.

Yeah I suppose you couldn't get hold of certain neu and can albums till quite late on (late 90s/early 2000s?) but not much of the 2nd tier stuff is very good is it? The best bands are still the most famous ones.

I remember downloading loads of the obscurer stuff after reading krautrocksampler and none of it was any good really.
