They haven't

Unless you've been living in like, Afghanistan? Swathes of Africa?

The West is at the end of a Decadent period now, nothing historical has happened since 1991.
wow this is a claim and a half i'd ask how but this ain't the place for it

and like i said its a hum its in the background, i know its not the same as in Afghanistan and most of central Africa and that becuase its not directly infront of us

i only say it in that way cause of the ammount of people who say wallad shit like how "they're tired of living through historical events" The west is at the end for sure but i don't think the decline is as happening as fast some people would both want and fear about

I'm certainly not convinced that the west is at its end. It may end up stronger than ever, depending on how this invasion pans out. Beyond that, I guess it depends on whether or not China can capture the next couple big tech innovation waves better than US can.

That's cuz they're thin-skinned.

Nobody will remember the COVID pandemic in 50 years. No one will remember Trump. No one will remember decrepit Joe.

This is primo Gilded Age times.

The only thing that will interest historians of America, looking back on the period from 1990-2020, will be what the US did to prepare for China, continue shoring up its global leadership position, etc. And the answer will be "very little." And therein will be spelled our doom.

I agree this process will take longer than we think though. It could easily be 100 years, 200 years.

I'm in one of those lulls where it feels like we've talked about everything and I can't think of much to say or make a thread about.

I actually met Bruce in 2010 in Louisiana, we were in a seafood gaff near the Jazz museum and I was outside smoking one in the humidity. Quite drunk.

A big group of people were walking down the street, couple of bodyguards, a small entourage

Fucking hell it's Bruce Willis, i said, and he turned round and went yeah i am

I said sorry mate can I get a picture, tried to step towards them a bit, and he said sorry not right now and they all walked off

True story. I always think I should have been more polite

I've heard he could be a bit of a twat, but I'd absolutely hate to be a celebrity and have that sort of attention, so I can understand the response.

Norm Macdonald told a funny story about meeting Trump backstage somewhere, asking for a photo and Trump being like "yeah, sure" then just walking off.

Me and my friend did this to Forrest Whittaker but he was cool just said you got a camera? and let us take the pic, however my dickhead mate immediately lost the camera.
