Drvg Cvltvre - what's good? Is there a sort of scene

Ah thanks I am gratified. Charlie from Shitcluster has been in Holland for a long time but is actually English. To me theyre a gloomy trippy but groovy sound that definitely seems something of what Den Haag is all about. There's about 3 or 4 EPs that are great and should be cheap to pick up. I really like this one and the 4th track particularly but again I'm pretty sure this should be at 33!

yeah, it should be 33. I've got at couple of these somewhere, really a unique sound.. I thought it was Unit Moebius that was behind it initially

Does Gesloten Cirkel fit into this sound? My favorite producer over the last couple years, kinda lika a less italo infatuated Legowelt. He's russian though, so I don't know if he should be cancelled now. I see Nina Kraviz is in trouble (again).

Well my partner is Russian. She hasn't released a statement condemning Putin yet so... can anyone advise on the cancelling procedure? I did say that I would take her for a run this afternoon, if I cancel her in time I could get out of that right?

That tune is really cool but I have to say that to my not especially expert ears it doesn't sound much like the tunes on this thread... though in fairness most of them don't sound much like each other.

But this has a kinda shiny, galloping jollity to it that feels like almost the complete opposite of the slow-mo grimy nightmares I started off with. Or am I missing something? I could very easily be.

I do find something quite interesting about how - on occasion - two people can hear the same track and take something totally different from it.

I hear what you're saying but that one is lacking in dirt for me. Not necessarily as a general tune, but I don't think it's filthy enough to be in this thread.

yeah, I was wondering if it was dirty enough, and I thought about deleting it soon after posting, but I do that revisionist shit all the time so I left it...

but, good to define the limits of the sound, set some boundaries

Perhaps I just subconsciously tried to lighten the thread up a bit. GC is a winner for me as he is one of the few who masters this slightly uplifting and kind of corny mood. Even though I think most of it is in minor key.

Only joking about the russian cancellations although Nina K is definitely cancelled now

This is my favourite of his.

Zaliva-D, Nick León, lots doing great stuff down in these tempos
More on the EBM side but if ye can catch yer man Beau Wanzer in the club it is off the hook without even creeping up to 115bpm

I'd not twigged before but Jan Duivenvoorden was involved in both so he should get some credit. Definitely a unique sound to Shitcluster. I can't find it now but there used to be a great interview with Guy Tavares in his bunker looking particularly agitated. Dave Nochexxx had a long conversation with him when we both played in Den Haag once.

Joking? Ah... do you know if there is a procedure for uncancelling?

I got a few records by Beau Wanzer - and I think the odd thing here or some sort of compilation EP type things. I could never quite get on his tunes somehow - it's a sound I like and he (you're telling me it's a guy but I never knew that before) is obviously linked with people I like, hence I've ended up with a few of them. Could easily just click one day I guess. His dj-ing sounds interesting anyhow... wonder if he'll ever come to Portugal...

This is a re-working of something or other by our friend Detlef and which I believe came out this week. In fact @catalog this is one is on our much advertised, forthcoming mix and it is low tempo and (in one sense at least) kinda dirty.

Ordered this one the other day... straight up banger (if it turns up and actually makes it to my turntable that is to say)

I'm having all kinds of problems with the post right now. I just got seventy quid refund from one seller. So annoying cos the second I approached to say "Excuse me, any idea where this might be?" they just said "courier said it's delivered we can't help you" and they were instantly really really unfriendly and made no effort to help. Makes no sense to me, like if I lost a fiver and someone told me to get lost then I might give up, but if they've taken seventy quid for a big fat nothing then I'm hardly gonna just say "Oh alright then no worries" am I? So I kept asking them for a signature which they kept not giving to me - and then suddenly they produced the signature but it was nothing at all like mine. I reckon that they probably did post it but it got lost in the post and, rather than split the losses by a half-refund or something, they thought it would be better to fake my signature and try and get the whole thing (or who knows, maybe the courier chucked it in the bin and faked the signature, but why would they do that?). So I got a whole refund, serve 'em right the lying, robbing fucking cunts.

It's weird that I feel triumphant about it though - the actual position is that I paid seventy quid, waited for months, then spent weeks arguing with the seller, then weeks arguing with paypal and now I'm in exactly the situation that I started in. I would have obviously much preferred the package.

Pinkman has been boshing out countless examples of this... couldn't sleep so been checking out their back catalogue... this one is good

And I couldn't resist ordering this one (one of the other tunes on this twelve is also cool with a somewhat unexpected guitar riff)

And this one that I ordered never turned up either fuck.

rich, do they have post office boxes there where you can get packages held there instead of delivered to your building? a pain to go down there and check all the time but might be a safer option.

I think there is something like that but the problem is that there are a number of places where things can vanish. So for example, that wouldn't really help if it got stuck in customs or some such.

maybe some things can be ordered through a record store (Flur?), see if they can shoot you an email when it comes in and hold it for you. that wouldn't apply to old records on discogs, but might for more recent ones.

You're coming up with some kinda ingenious suggestions here Leo, appreciate the effort. I reckon that ninety percent of the records I buy are not new though.
