Was this written in the covid lockdown? The word 'furlough' has cropped up a couple of times, but it's not just that. It seems very much a portrait of UK of this period, very British somehow. Quite topical in places, in other words.
There's also an 'eco' theme in there I think too - ragged dolphins washed up on the beach, plastic in the gut, anguished oceans, extinctions. Lots of animals - alligators, crocodiles, frogs, seals, cheetahs, deer, lemurs, owls, etc

Ah right, wow. Probably me reading too much into things then, as per usual. I don't think I was even familiar with the word furlough before the lockdowns, not exactly a commonly used word before then, was it?

This is really fun, I wouldn't say it's not as good as prediction tablet, might even be better. A bit less dark and less staccato than PT, loads of great lines, constant surprises. I loved the appearance of the "Hovis lad on cobble hill legs AKIMBO. picking up speed"
