How good is the sun?

Companion thread to the moon one.

The spiritual, sociological, economic, etc, etc things about the sun.

Can't think of anything right now, but I like it, on the whole. I like a hot sunny day.

Nick Land thinks it's "inefficient" and should be dismantled.

The inexorable logic of techno-industrial efficiency, on its anti-gravity vector, means that the only consistent motivation for leaving the earth is to dismantle the sun (along with the rest of the solar-system), but that doesn’t play well in Peoria. Unsurprisingly, therefore, those sensitized to political realities, media perceptions, and public relations are inclined to emphasize other things, depicting the earth as a destination for cosmic bounty or — even more immediately — for juicy tax-funded pork, rather than as a tricky but highly-rewarding demolition problem.

There's that baudrillard line isn't there, something along the lines of, "the only thing we really need to worry about is that the sun will implode in 3 billion years"

That exhibition featured a lot of good sun related art. I can't remember now what the weird little projections are called big there was some French guy who did these beautiful photos of them

I like both, but prefer that one too. Feels like someone smashed together Coil's Ape of Naples cover and Sun Ra's Magic City and painted it in blood.
