He might have been alright if he just went "Oh, fair enough" and stopped, plus you don't know the history of the person complaining. It's likely a cumulative thing of repeatedly having had to deal with that sort of situation and being wary of where it could lead / refusing to put up with it.
I get your point though. Some people seem intent on curating the world like they would their social media, blocking included, and blowing everything up into a story.
You just have to hold both possibilities in your head, I guess.
I am probably being unfair. Likely it's just something that person said as part of a conversation without attaching any huge significance to, but the interviewer has pulled it out and highlighted it which makes it seem as though it was some sort of horrible nightmare for her when it wasn't at all.
Also, on reflection, just because most nights have loads of people doing much worse than that, it doesn't mean that they should does it? I'm veering towards sympathy with snowflakism now I think about it properly. The other night we went to Damas in Lisbon which really is a pretty progressive bar, virtually all the staff are trans and it ought to be about as safe a space as you can get, yet on Friday Liza was in a really bad mood cos loads of people had cracked on to her in ways which she considered rude or inappropriate or whatever. I think I was sort of thinking "she and countless other people have to put up with a million times worse than was reported in that story every weekend so why should that person be so protected?" but of course that is a childish attitude, the aim should be to get everyone to the good level or better, not to drag that down to the normal experience.
So yeah, I say kick out the dickheads by all means. I do have a problem with face control and some twat like that cunt on the door at Berghain (er, not that I've ever been there) deciding which faces are
gonna be dickheads, pretending that they have some kind of knowledge of human psychology which really boils down to simple prejudice. I suppose what I'm saying is that there should be a relatively low bar for kicking someone out on the basis of their actions, but a really high bar for blocking someone on the basis of appearance.
