They like saying "sweet, sweet karma" and making "LeReddit" jokes and saying things like "4D chess moves." And then one of them will reference an only slightly-non-mainstream show like Succession, and there will be a thread like "I thought I was the only one!" and "Great to find a fellow fan!" and then they type out a transliteration of the theme music, or make oblique comments to Shiv's bum like, nudge nudge wink wink

They love listing top 10s and arguing about top 10s and then, my favorite part, they always give a requisite "Well really there are like 15-20 players in the top 10," or will admit that it's subjective. (I live for this) They love saying "This but unironically" and "Don't get me wrong but."

They love arguing over who is more sympathetic, in this detached way. It's not about who they find personally more sympathetic for first-order reasons. It's about how sympathetic people appear to some unspecified audience or general public.

They love saying something's about to get really ugly

They love grabbing the popcorn and then making comments about how the sub is just like Keeping Up With the Kardashians

They love saying "X is tryna get traded to the Ys" whenever players from different teams express solidarity/support

They are 20% responding to the actual basketball games/players and like 80% responding to the temperature/consensus of the sub

a recent trend Ive noticed is theyll all take turns describing how badly any of them would get beaten on the court by even the lowliest NBA benchwarmer in a kind of group exhibitionist exercise before the requisite 'in all seriousness' turn where they evangelize about how talented NBA players really are

Yes those are always really good. What's the basketball player, some benchwarmer scrub, they always invoke? Some white guy named Brian? They love quoting that shit all "Brian Whatshisface is closer to Lebron than you or I am to Brian"

I also LOVE when they hate a female sidelines reporter or panel host, because they are trying to sidestep any kind of potential sexism stuff etcetera, but they also HATE this person and are SO MAD

So they'll show they do support/enjoy other female sidelines reporters, all "I thought Candace Parker was way better last night". Or they'll say someone someone is a "clickbait whore" and then be like "EDIT: it was wrong of me to call a woman a whore" and then someone will be like "nah brah, you're just using it a normal way to mean someone who really wants clicks, it's not about sex-shaming"

They LOVE when people say something they agree with but that hasn't already been a top-ranked post in the previous week. They go "FINALLY someone said it"

They love saying the sub has a "hard-on" or "fetish" for something/someone

and whats really interesting is they do all that yet anytime the WNBA is mentioned they all absolutely lose their minds!

and then a million reasonable, sensible comments about the inferiority of the product and how its not sexist to say that.
