my relationship with this tune is "complicated"
the Anita Ward original dominated the airwaves, disco clitoral innuendo defied the BBC
but the Lovers Rock do-over by the Blood Sisters?
part of the charm is the hopelessly out of tune vocals of afro haired tan mackintosh wearing cockney via windrush teenagers , but on the dub version the relentless bass plus syn drum just rules... a dilemma when I've "played out", do I drop the needle at the start and include the tone deaf harmonies, or try and cut to the no nonsense bass line? In the end I've just reduced weight and left it on the shelf at home, but still... killer tune...
