If not, I understand but just know it would make me unhappy for a maybe a few moments before I totally move on.

Elon Musk is bringing a '90s mentality to Twitter's decidedly 2022 problems, Axios tech managing editor Scott Rosenberg writes.

Musk sent the company's workers a memo early this morning asking them to commit to a new, "extremely hardcore" work environment. They were given one day to either click a button signaling that they were on board or leave the company. The outside engineers he brought in to Twitter reportedly may have evaluated programmers by counting how many lines of code they'd written.

Jim's wife was nagging him and making him feel bad about himself. not sure why Barty did it really. Maybe felt he needed to embrace the world again. Get his hands dirty. Sup with the common folk.

ive been working recently. i cant tell if i like it or hate it. i work 45 hour weeks. i wake up at 3am sometimes. other days i get home at 3am. i work on boats. when i am drinking after the whole world sways like i am still on a boat. i had to do it cos i knew the weather this winter would make it impossible to survive on poetry. you meet a lot of characters. real desperados. in a way its fun. im good at it. i throw ropes, tie ropes, tell people to not vape. but it swallows your whole life.

i make 25,000 grand a year from it. i can be a captain in about 3 years which is unlikely given i'll probbably be sacked before that. but i like being amongst 'the people' again. it's a strange life. captains get about 55,000 grand but they are locked in a pay dispute. they want something comparable to tube drivers which i think they wont get. im getting a 14% pay rise. they are getting 6%.
