On Friday at 1900 UK time (I think) the United States take in England in their world Cup group game.

I propose all the Yanks and um, Limeys (or insert other derogatory term of your choice for the English) find a telly showing the game and we watch it together while lightly taking the piss out of each other.

That's @Leo, @Clinamenic, @suspended, @padraig (u.s.), @linebaugh, @mvuent etc

vs

@version, @luka, @mixed_biscuits, @Corpsey and so on

Neutrals such as @WashYourHands , @craner , @entertainment and, well, you know who you are, are welcome join in and insult either or both sides as the opportunities arise.

Craner is more English than Welsh.

Beloved national treasure AA Gill famously used his rapier wit to gently mock the Welsh, though for some reason a few of them with paper-thin-skin seemed to take offence at their teasingly loving characterisation as "Loquacious, dissemblers, immoral liars, stunted, bigoted, dark, ugly, pugnacious little trolls."

What a sad world we live in now that the socialist soyboy BLM and their cucked wokerati friends have literally taken over the whole of the country apart from the government, the courts and the media; as well as fucking up brexit they forced the football team to take the knee literally all the time turning them gay and have brought in laws forcing parents to make their kids trans and which mean you can't say anything any more and can literally be arrested if you say you're English.

I was mulling over watching this tonight as I borrowed it along with the third one off my brother. Synchronicity!

I was bored one year when I went home for Xmas and decided to go to a midnight showing at a local shopping mall (!) movie complex. I was one of the only people in the theater. so weird to watch it in that setting, and then get out at around 1:30 am and exit to an empty parking lot.

That's great. They must have pretty much set it up with that in mind you'd think.

Were midnight movies ever a thing over there? A long tradition here, certain films get anointed and screened for years at midnight, which is essentially a call to arms for every drunk and stoner to get wasted and talk shit at the screen for the first hour until they nod off. When I was growing up, classics of the genre were "Day/Dawn of the Dead/Night of the living Dead", "Rocky Horror Picture Show", "The Song Remains the Same", "El Topo", "Harold and Maude", "Eraserhead", "Faster Pussycat Kill Kill", "Repo Man", etc.

Not really. There might have been cinemas when they showed things and called them Midnight Movies but really they would be a homage to the US ones, it wasn't a thing in itself, more just a sort of self-conscious copyl.

I hope you will all be watching, I suggested meeting with some friends and one replied "any excuse to be a loud-mouthed engerland fan chucking chairs around covered in pints" and suggested what he believes is the perfect bar for that. I guess I will start live commentary from there about 1830.
