in the last fortnight: Terry Hall from The Specials / Fun Boy Three, that bald headed guy from Faithless

about six or seven years ago, the day after Prince popped his clogs, a work colleague and I wondered who would be next and we both said "Iggy Pop" but somehow he has just released a new album, so more proof my predictions are not to be trusted

edit: if you were to ask me today "who's next?" then I'd reply "Phil Collins". I've probably extended his life expectancy by ten years by saying that...

jh prynne is now 106 years old, however he looks set to outlive us all

I got a Prynne in the post today that I forgot I ever ordered, "Shade Furnace"

kicks off with "Daniel III: 21, 25) ( Geneva Bible, 1560)

So these men were bound in their coates, their hosen,
& their clokes, with their other garments, and cast into
the middes of the hote fyrie furnace...
'Lo, I se four men loose, walking in the middes of the fyre,
and they have no hurt

Is he telling us he is immortal? No flames will consume Jeremy?

Only found out recently that Nick Zedd died this year too. Kubrick never made a film with an old man being chased around the house by a rabid poodle and then shooting it, accompanied by The Dead Boys' 'Caught With The Meat In Your Mouth'.

Let's Talk About Ceps
Now Des O'Connor and the actress who played the dim yokel girl in The Vicar of Dibley. It's a massacre!

“You gave us so much, we gave you so much: yes, it was love, reciprocal, infinite. A love that will not die today with you. We will continue to love and adore you because – as you well know – you are better than Pelé. And because, despite everything, our beautiful season is destined to never end.”

They added: “We will remember you as a boy and a relentless centre-forward, because heroes are all young and beautiful and you, since that summer of 1984, have been our hero. Strong and beautiful, with that 9 printed on the back and the Italian flag sewn on the heart.”

Yep, same. But he was part of a weird time when foreign players started playing in the prem - Klinsman at Spurs, Vialli at Chelsea, Juninho at Middlesborough… did that really happen? It seems like I must have imagined it.

In October 1995, Juninho signed for English club Middlesbrough for £4.75 million, just months after they had been promoted to the English top-flight FA Premier League. Then aged 22, Juninho had been tracked by numerous European top clubs, and it was a major surprise when he signed for "the Teessiders". Juninho became known as TLF (The Little Fella) by Boro fans, after local radio broadcaster Dave Roberts nicknamed the player on his football talk show. The nickname alludes to his height: only 1.65 m (5 ft 5 in). During his time with Middlesbrough, Juninho lived in Levendale and Ingleby Barwick with his parents. He was known for playing football with school children on the streets and is still considered one of the greatest players to have played for Middlesbrough in the modern era.

When you could buy a Brazilian World Cup winner for Mbappe's weekly wage. I guess he hadn't won it at that point but whatever. That period was so exciting but I guess it took us to where we are now.
