When you're in a restaurant and a waiter (or 'server' or whatever you're supposed to say these days - actually that's one worth mentioning in itself) comes over and asks "Is everything alright?", I always get the urge to be a total cunt and say "Are you kidding? Have you seen the news lately?!"

When you're waitering you ask 'is anything alright?'

There was a letter in Private Eye a few years ago by a man who was a bit upset when the cheery young woman he'd been on the phone to at a funeral parlour signed off the conversation with "No worries!". It ended something like "Having just lost my wife of 40 years, I actually had rather a lot of worries."
a unique one coz its an australianism that i think migrated to england when everyone was into australians and jack johnson in about 2005. there aren't many of them.
