GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Especially when you have to kiss up to certain figures who haven't been truly valuable to the scene besides nostalgia for years.

What's really frustrating is that grime was built out of a proposed blocking by garage heads... Where is the wave of grime that goes out of their way to do it themselves and topple the 'old men'?

Kids are still MCing up and down the country I've seen it. Believe it or not they are not all sitting alone making House music.

It's just it's a lot harder to get heard then it was before.

do you get sent a lot of / any tunes from kids mcing elijah? interested to know because you / butterz are i suppose represented as being 'the' instrumental grime guys but also as people willing to bring thru new talent.

I don't really get sent anywhere near as much as I used to when we first started. Everyone just does their own thing really. Their own labels, and way of presenting things.

Tend to get things in their finished form, rather than to check out and give feedback which is a shame really as I miss that part of interacting with people I rate.

In terms of MC's specifically their first way to get exposure would be on the Youtube Channels like SBTV, GRM and Link Up TV etc.

There's a version of SB.TV that doesn't just push white kids with acoustic guitars and tries to label them as 'urban artists'? Gee, wish I'd known when I'd followed them.

that Grime podcast chat thing with Geeneus etc was well worth a listen.

weird that they talk about Eskimo Dance being 2007 tho?? Swear the first ones were more like 2004?

maybe they mean this eskimo dance?

ha! that performance definitely deserves a few rewinds still!

anyway i just went back and watched the video to What U Call it?

You can see they flyer for the first Eskimo Dance at 0:01.

November 2003.

So basically, Geeneus and Flowdan don't know shit about the history of grime ;)

yeah.. it's not that important to me tbh! i just think it's weird that they would get the dates mixed up.. cos like, in my mind, 2007 era grime (when they said Eskimo Dance started) is a completely different beast to 2003/4-era grime (when Eskimo Dance actually did start)

anyway, if nothing else it gave me an excuse to watch the video for What U Call It? again and enjoy Wiley's weird 'ka ka ka' noises he makes in the intro..

Darned cockwombles.
eskimo dance started a tiny bit earlier than that, spring/summer 2003 at least - i think that flyer's from the last one before they got thrown out of SE1, where it all went wrong and someone pulled out a gun. i was thankful i chose the one before to go to....

I'm ghostwriting wiley autobiography. Incidentally the thing I found most interesting about that geeneus flow Dan spyro thing was spyro saying all their dad's were mates

I guess that explains a bit as to how Wiley would know to presume that Footsie's dad was a crackhead in that war dub.

*imagines a realm of grime where war dubs suddenly slipped into MCs taking up their fathers beefs* JEROME, WHY IS YOUR DAD STILL REFUSING TO PAY ZANE'S DAD BACK HIS 50 POUNDS, FROM 1997? WE KNOW YOUR DAD HAS THE MONEY JEROME.
