Goodz is definitely thinking he looks like some sort of samurai.

Never forget, every MC plays video games, read comic books, loves wrestling, knows too much about ONE THING that's lame.

everyone knows hes been a bit intensely nerdy (though whats wrong with being nerdy? novelist and jme have done alright with that... ) i think. more so after he changed his name or thereabouts. not sure its really done his music any favours, but maybe hes happier. i prefer the earlier 'they dont KNOW!' era doogz.

is anyone else surprised that skepta has blown up where jme hasnt? you would have thought they could have sold him as a safer grime kind of artist...

Because the audience that initially gets in through JME then thinks JME is uncool because he's so stridently nerdy. "Bar about how I don't smoke", "Bar about realistic money achievments", etc. Skepta hasn't lyrically grown too much in content and doesn't take a positive image to such a squeaky clean look (as if he and Jamie somehow DIDN'T grow up in the same neighborhood and have the same friends and family).

IDK, Grime's fanbase now consists mostly of voyeurs, so they have this sort of mental spectrum of "roughness" & "desire to appease the fans in the MC" that appeals to them. Skepta fits that to a T whereas JME is unimpressive because he's so 'safe' somehow.

Long story short, the whole 'bad boy' image, whites being thirsty and having a poverty fetish, you know how it goes.

or because JME is a neeky vegan, he's alright but some of his bars are incredibly cringeworthy.

JME never had star power, he has niche-power.

JME also doesnt have that many tracks with obvious catchy crowdpleasing choruses like nu skepta has. This is a weird conversation to have anyway because JME is still one of the biggest grime mcs around right now commercially and probably beats everyone who hasn't gone pop (most of the popstars too tbh) other than skepta.

basically but not just a white thing this is entertainment basics

dnt think jme cares about making music or being a star too tough. guy probs top 3 earners in grime. probs bottom in that 3 in music output.

He hasn't ever made an actual good track, has he. "Garms" was a sick lift. But, aside from that, JME's a triumph of marketing.
