Hello new people and thanks for coming!

Don't be intimidated, just chip in now and again. It's only the really arsey gits that get shot down in flames. :)

Hey everyone.
Long-time lurker, first-time poster. I'm a 23yr old Irish guy currently living in Japan. Big into all kinds of electronic music - been listening to a lot of dubstep recently too, which is how I found this site. Here's my Last.fm page.

hello everybody...
i first bumped into Dissensus in search of grime and dubstep news...i lurked my way through some threads, checked out other subforums and decided it'd be a good idea to register cause i've seen some great discussions here (and it's not that easy to come by such a good board)...
now, some personal info:
i'm 21, from Rijeka, Croatia, i'm a student in cultural studies, i like all kinds of music - right now, my favs are grime and dubstep, hip hop, electropop, and i'm looking forward to getting some insight in post-punk...i'm aware that my english isn't perfect, so, please, feel free to correct my mistakes whenever they occur...also, i'm 'a DJ in the making', sort of...hopefully i'll be spinning grime and dubstep 12'' in the near future, with an occasional UK hip hop track and some electro...and funk perhaps?

i think that's enough for an introduction post :D

cheers!

edit: oh yeah, here's my last.fm page as well: http://www.last.fm/user/freakyrixx/

Hello guys

I used to shy away from internet forums/blogs. Lets face it, there's a sea of crap out there, right? But this year I had several epiphanies that have led me to signing up to dissensus...

1) Reading Simon Reynolds' last couple of books, and discovering the quite marvellous blissblog/Woebot/and all that...

2) Seeing Einsturzende Neubauten at ATP and being blown away. I joined their supporters project and really enjoyed discussing music on the forum...wanted more

3) Realising the complete and utter tedium of myspace...

So here I am...To be honest I'm not very knowledgable about most of the dance music culture threads that you seem to have going here, but it looks like a very interesting forum. Haven't really explored it properly yet...

Speak soon...

I've been reading Dissensus for quite a bit now. Can't quite remember how I stumbled upon it in the first place, but I do remember that the first thread I read here was on Political/Conscience Grime (or the lack of). And I've been returning ever since.

I've only registered recently so I can use Search. I'll try not to pollute this place too much. It's a lovely sanctuary from the the other places I frequent. My music taste's far too mainstream for most of you :p.

Hello, how's everyone. Signed up a bit ago and my taste in music has atrophied significatly in the past few years, but the only spice that I can honestly say hasn't turned my off to the medium in anyway has been dub-infused Electro. Computers confuse the piss outa me and I'll be damned if I get online anymore than an hour each day (2-3 on the good ones) so don't expect massive amounts of contribution, but from what I've read this board seems to do well all on it's own.

Oh and I'm a sucka for the steel drums.

Hello

Hello,
I'm just adding my name to the list. I've been hanging around for a while, and even making posts on post it notes and meaning to sign up and post them but I never got round to it. Oh well, here I am.

Hello

hi everyone. i'm ben, a student, 20. General fiend (like everyone else here i suppose), so instead the last three records i bought were a phuture comp on trax, a tony allen retrospective and a beat up copy of the first Morris On album. Hey nonny-nonny and all that rubbish. really surprised to find a board like this, but really happy too. i feel a bit/terribly overawed by some of the other members though - a lot of people i respect very much, and indeed whose pockets i will have lined on occasion - but i hope i'm not ridiculously out of my depth.

so anyway, i hope everyone gets friday done and has a good weekend - fridays for me means berwick street in the afternoon, which is always a pleasure.

thanks :)

(i'd link my last.fm, but for reasons actually beyond me Bob Marley & The Wailers are my number two ever (really...no idea), and i don't want to look like a capital s "Student" who sits around playing Pro Evo and listening to Legend all day, when the reality is at least marginally less crusty. only listen to vinyl anyway etc.)

Would it be possible to change the colour of the links? I'm having to highlight the dark green ones just to be able to see them.

Hi

Just registered tonight but I've been stalking this site for 2 years or so. Can't even remember how I found this place but I'm sure it was dubstep related. Poked around the other forums and found some pretty great discussion going on so I kept coming back. Decided to sign up because I want my 2 cents dammit! Also if I'm typing it looks like I'm doing work.

I'm a 22 year old Aussie guy, been in London for about a year now.

cheers

hello!

i am thinking of that Three Stooges bit in which they play lawyers, Dewey, Cheatum and Howe. at first i thought that would be relevant to this post but i've somehow lost my train of thought...

hello! i know a few people here from other fora and i expect the reverse is true.

thanks for reading my post

A big hello from Atlanta! I signed up here a few years ago, but visited infrequently and forgot my password. I recently read Mark Fisher's thesis about Gothic Materialism (Masters or PhD??), and remembered this place, so I thought I'd give it another spin.
