Roll Deep in East Anglia

It's all grist
OK, Roll Deep are playing in Cambridge (The Junction) this Saturday. Would anyone care to add to my preconceptions as to what this experience will be like? I'm sort of joking and not joking at the same time here... :D

isn't there a reasonably sized grime contingent in Ipswich and Bedford?

'what do you know about Ips? we are the top boys in Ips' etc.

i reckon it'll be busy, and fun.

I'm wondering if I'll be able to spot Ips' top boys, but that's by the by...

What about the show itself? Is it just going to be "In At The Deep End" or can I hope for anything else? Has anyone seen Roll Deep on this tour?

pete - was also wondering about this gig. dizzee was one of the most fantastic experiences of last year and am sorely tempted (especially considering i missed wiley and kano on the same stage this time last year or something), but uhhhhh i have coursework due in next week.

die die die.

also not sure if i can cope with a half 2 finish again. i've basically got lame.

Is Dizzee on this tour? I thought he was still in the States?

Should I be expecting good things?

Cambridge/Loughborough eh? I grew up in Loughborough and now live in Cambridge. I went to the Dizzee night with my brother. It was an over-16s night, which meant that the bar staff would only sell one drink at a time, in case olders bought rounds for youngers I assume. Not a bad night at all - Semtex played one hip hop anthem after another. There's a good chance I'll go to this on Saturday night.

I'll be too deep in my cups by then and badgering my mate to go home. I'll probably miss the good bit. Piss. Wish I'd gone to see Dizzee.

UM - - that rings a bell. Anything to do with the poster for a gig hanging up in the Live and let live that features some kind of yeti creature with huge hairy clubs for arms? Always makes me smile.

whereabouts in loughborough?

A good night until Roll Deep summoned up the energy to stroll on (at about 1:20am). Couldn't tell you who was on stage because I'm no fan boy, but someone needs to tell them yawping incoherently over plodding beats and bass doesn't count as performance. No wonder grime's been stuck in neutral for so long, Roll Deep cannot deliver as a live act. You'd have to be a mug to get excited about that load of old bollocks. Thing is, I bet they can do it when they can be bothered.

Inja who was on before them was better, made an effort, entertained. Also on the upside, the crowd in there was proper raucous at times (espec. during Pow) and kept the bouncers busy.

Bit tenuous...

Big Brother reminds you that nominations are not permitted on this thread, but hail to the dancing OMMM!

Too hungover to address last night but a trace of the flavour could be sucked from the fact that my pal Andrew, who has a few more flecks of grey in his hair than I do, was persistently pestered by young women asking "will you go to the bar for me please?"
