if it's good enough for Sandwell District to include on their Fabric mix CD, then that's enough of a recommendation for me...

i have been a dole scrounger for a bit. highly recommend it. great life. work has its upsides but it wears you down. i recommend the dole if you can get. not forever, but for a bit. take stock. find a way to make cash in hand while youre on it or youll struggle. always be friendly and accomodating to your work coach. agree to everything, never be troublesome, make sure they're glad to see you and you'll be fine.

remember their name. you want to be their favourite. never look like a moper or a malingerer. play the game. make it work for you.

I had a good time on the dole for a couple of years in the early nineties but I think it’s probably pretty hard work now, especially in London.

it was a piece of piss when i was on it. but some of it is luck of the draw. depends who you get and where you are but just act like you want a job and be insincere and friendly at all times and chances are its ok.

ability to speak fluent english will take you a long way. dont beleive the stories. most of them are on your side.

theres a certain category of african man you want to avoid, they're probably the worst. elder parking attendent types will do you up the bum.

mostly there's solidarity. a lot of them got the job after being on the dole themselves so they're not avenging angels. just understand who youre talking to and what they want.

was on JSA for about six months about ten years ago and it was as you say not enough money, 52 quid a week or whatever it was, and seemed to be designed to be dispiriting, offensive, humiliating, and they made me go every week after a few months as well seems nuts to think anyone could have a good time on it (but maybe if you've also got some cash in hand work it might be alright)

i found that it got a lot better when you stopped approaching it honestly and telling them the truth and played the game instead

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by social media, starving hysterical naked…

twitters made it impossible for musicians to have a mystique, like the rest of us if you give them the internet most of them are normal and want to write things on it, the cultural form of the musician who you can idolise and look up to is a thing of the past more or less, the world has moved on, if they don't keep themselves to themselves as they were forced to in the past you can't project much onto them, you get the ugly boring reality of the people alongside the tunes

the thing they do now is outsource some of it so you will have 2 appts. job centre and then the outsourced 1. i had a beautiful 22 year old woman i had to go to plumstead to see but she thought i was great. but do build the personal relationships cos then they are less likely to shaft you.

make them laugh, make them feel good. a lot of the time they are dealing with people that cant speak a word of english or pretend not to so you want them to view you as a rare oasis of calm and to be grateful/
