i did put on some of ibrahim alfa's tunes after and they all sounded OK, but nothing I've gone back to. but when i was a teenager i did used to like cj bolland and all that a bit, that banging sound. i think i might have seen him somewhere. it's sort of filed next to acid techno in my head, very aggy lagery teenage stomping tunes. but the alfa stuff i listened to was quite minimal and subtle.

I mean I wouldn't expect you to understand minimal, what being a Stone Roses fan.

i actually re-read that whole interview again last night in the small hours when i couldn't sleep, and listened to all his old ones and they are completely weird, lots of juddering stop start and a lot of silence. not minimal at all. but then on his soundcloud nowadays, its much harder to detect any coherent style. would like to check his album really. so yes, you are right, i don't even know why i wrote minimal. interesting what he says about how for a while everyone was trying to emulate jeff mills, but couldn't and you just got a load of very boring tunes that never went anywhere, which is totally true!
