Where do Bloggers host their MP3s?

If I was thinking of setting up an mp3 blog, how can I go about hosting the mp3s?
In typical blog style, I'd want to host about 10 mps at a time, for about a week each.
I understand most free hosting places wouldn't touch me with a ten foot bargepole, but is there anywhere online I can stash a few mp3s or will I have to buy some of my own space and organise it myself?

If thats the case, any tips?

i just use Blogger and link to my web space which I've just had boosted from 20 to 800 MB on an Xmas special :D

If your host lets you do PHP scripting you could bypass Blogger and use the free version of Movable Type.

Hosting-wise, LaughingSquid.net is top notch in the US. I'm pretty happy with Tera-Byte.com in Canada.

Your right, its very hard to host mp3s, they eat bandwidth, and then theres the legal issues..

I've just discovered the idisk account (http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/idisk/), the service is there for people to use as a web based harddrive, so its not strictly webhosting, but is perfect for mp3s for now at least, you have to use a mac to set up the account, but it can be accessed by pc after you've set it up, it is a bit technical, but it works.. ..

You can also use the free hosting you get with a broadband account, they don't seem to notice bandwidth use as much as comercial hosting companys do, or if you have a very good net connection you could set up your own server(!)..

Other than that, i can only warn you against : fasthosts, hostplus, advantage1nteractive, all of which have removed our hosting accounts in the past ..

In your experience JK, do hosts tend to just ax the account or is there typically a warning beforehand? I'm hoping to slip under the radar with mine by not offering too much at once and perhaps zipping the mp3s so that they're not logged as music files. I had considered a .mac account but I figured that Apple might scrutinize mp3 transfers (single songs maybe more than mixes) given their iTunes interests.

I've noticed quite a few mp3 blogs use .mac accounts - including high profile ones like Fluxblog - so that's not necessarily a worry at the moment at least.

It depends on the hosts, but generally they just switch you off and you have to do lots of crawling to get back on..

a few Hosts tend to be against even if you link to remote mp3 files that arn't on there servers, and we've been shut down for that as well..

It is getting better tho', theres so much more media content on the web than a year ago, so there a bit more understanding about mp3 traffic..

the mac account is only free for two months, then you have to pay US$99.95 per year. it's really good but costly. you could just as well use the space your internet provider gives you. or you could sign up with (for example) aletia which offers webspace for about 10 dollars per month.

Or just re-register with a different email address?

EDIT - Looks like the .mac links on fluxblog are buggered too now, have they got wise?

I just use P4Host in the states, cheap, fast, spacious etc. I put mixes up there.

Though it's buggered the blog at the moment.
