Theorem: the more heavily a person bases their self-image on the idea that they are extremely canny and everyone else is gullible, the more gullible they are likely to be.

That's how you end up like them though.
Obviously I don't actually want to be implanted with a microchip or for Bill Gates to rule the world - then again, since those are fantasy scenarios, that's a bit like saying I don't want to be eaten by a dragon.

But if luka gets a free pass to indulge in his Holocaust 2.0 fantasies on a daily basis, I would hope I can be allowed some latitude for hyperbole.

Who loves ya, baby?
It's the road to that William Gass thing I posted in the Trump thread,

As for Hitler, Kohler calls him “a petty little twerp” whose one undeniable gift was to openly state what other politicians left to implication: “Yet Hitler — the dissembler, the liar, the hypocrite, the mountebank, the deluder, the con man, the sophist, the manipulator, the dreamer, the stage manager and the ultimate ham — he was probably history’s single most sincere man.” Kohler speculates at length about the motivations of Hitler’s opportunistic supporters, “all of those who weren’t twerps who willed what Hitler wished,” and he finally arrives at a shattering conclusion: “I would have followed him just to get even.”

That's not what I mean. I mean once you let spite become your primary driver, you end up like them.
That's probably true. But liberals and progressive have been telling each other for years that it's vitally important to attempt to communicate with the right-wing populists, to understand their very important pain and dissatisfaction, to try somehow to meet them halfway. But how do you "meet halfway" with someone who thinks a global pandemic is a hoax? It's like asking an astronomer to compromise with a flat-earther.

And what has it bought us? How much progress has been made against the tide of reaction and fantasy? None, that I can see.

Possibly, in terms of their relative importance to each faction. But I think it's fair to say there's a pretty big asymmetry in the amount of evidence for each 'theory'.

No, not at all. You're both as bad as each other

Haha! Well then I look forward to Robert Mueller's 450 page report into the Satan-worshipping and child-pimping activities of Hilary Clinton.

Seriously though, you openly scorn the very concept of evidence, so on what basis do you make that judgment and why so you even care?
