they all waited till the last possible minute. If they were certain of their power or their principles they might have acted sooner

"After he was defeated by Joe Biden, Trump used his account to amplify conspiracy theories and lies about the election result. Twitter began placing warning labels on his claims."

They might throw their weight round more in future, potentially. Though you have to assume these decisions involve outside parties.

"Facebook has banned Trump from its platform for at least two weeks, ensuring he would not have access to his account for the rest of his term. Other social networks have also taken action, leaving Trump with fewer and fewer mainstream channels from which to wage his political battles and command the news cycle."

You go, hmmmm, Interesting.

It's funny, but also worrying. I can't stand Trump, but a tech company being able to boot the president sends a pretty strong message.
And yet the alternative - that they *can't* boot him, *because* he is the president - is surely far worse?

there is something magical about having the Ayatollah and the President pitching their soap boxes on the same Speakers Corner

I'm not very comfortable with these mega platforms having the degree of power they have, obviously. Ideally we would get better at assessing information and we would get better at understanding how magic and power and desire operates

The last four years has been a scary ride but we can learn a huge amount from it. In that sense it's more valuable than a Clinton presidency would have been.

If you don’t buy the Twitter claim that he is using his account to incite violence, then technically it’s a form of discrimination, or least it would be in the UK: preventing somebody from using a service on the grounds of their political beliefs.

The wellness/yoga influencers leading people to anti-vax & great reset paranoia is a very real thing, quite a few of the beautiful people I follow on insta have gone absolutely mental over the last six months. I keep saying I will unfollow but then there are a few good poses and I'm straight back in.

I think it's probably hard to see the woods from the trees as faux spirituality and herbal medicine has been easily accepted for years but that all goes to shit in a highly contagious pandemic that needs a vaccine to resolve

Poor bastards just want to look beautiful on a beach but it's tearing them apart. Surprised there haven't been more guardian articles on it, I know there was a vice one. Seems right up their street

It's partLy a move to ingratiate themselves with the incoming regime

It is fascinating and mysterious the way the alt-right was able to capture probably the majority of the magical thinking crowd and how that carried over into support for Trump.
