Probably nothing new here to most people, but it's a neat summary of the convergence of the wellness industry and the far right via conspiracy theories and the fetish for bodily purity.

I've been saying for years that it doesn't matter how progressive your instincts are; if you subscribe to this stuff, you're aligning yourself to some of the most reactionary forces working anywhere in the world - and the article doesn't even go into the crossover with Holocaust denial, 9/11 Trutherism and so on.

Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas.

Facts are clearly obsolete and anyone putting their faith in them is living in a previous century. The only way ahead is to write the fiction which becomes the future. We, I really, will write the master narrative which contains all the others within it. God is The Writer. Just as you people are contained within my personality, as semi autonomous sub personalities.

I think its already been written, its contained within the existing threads (of the forum). They just need to be pulled together, woven into a nice fat rope

This is true (to the extent that anything is 'true' any more), and I agree it's massively accelerated recently, but is it really all that new? Hitler had this figured out a century ago, didn't he? That the way to get people on your side is neither to tell the truth, nor to tell subtle, clever lies that are plausible on an intellectual level, but to tell really outrageous, Trumpian lies, that bypass the brain altogether and grab people by the innards. To create an emotionally engaging narrative. All that stuff.

That's proper genius. It's like standard, entry-level "so-called global warming is a hoax by scientists/Marxists/liberals/China!" is for basic bitches. The truly woke know that the Earth really is heating up, but only because the whole solar system is heating up.

I'm appreciating it! That's why I said "genius"! I mean that is a genuinely new and even more extreme twist to that particular idea that I've not seen before.

Maybe the mass unemployment in the US will lead to a proliferation of insanely complicated and complicatedly insane conspiracy theories.
