Yeah I’d side with you here Mr. Tea, but I also see some medicine as an interjection of techne into anciently complex energy assemblages, which granted cannot realistically be avoided for many.

Not to shortchange the prospects of CRISPR, which strike me as profound, or the efforts of molecular biologists, perhaps the application of systems theory par excellence.

There's certainly a conversation to be had about over-medicalization and people being kept alive long after they've ceased to have any quality of life. But to me it's self-evidently true that these cases are outweighed many times over by cases where someone is alive who would otherwise be dead, or someone who has a good quality of life who would otherwise be what used to be called a cripple. Just dismissing all of this because it doesn't apply personally to you is just the cuntiest attitude I can imagine, and "Mother Nature knows best" is a pretty good summary of ecofascism.

What's wrong with campaigning against 'school closures, lockdowns and masks' - they were all pointless
What's wrong with it is that it was completely astroturfed and involved a PR advisor with links to the PM, the ERG, Nigel Farage and pro-Trump groups in the US.

If you put the actual issues they were campaigning on aside for a moment, isn't this exactly the sort of conspiratorial opacity and dishonesty that you - supposedly - are dead set against?

The story here is that a supposedly "grassroots" pressure group is actually being directed by an international cabal of right-wing interests connected to both the current UK PM and the previous POTUS. Which is awkward for you right-wing pro-disease types who think they're opposed to the government.

But a feature of conspiracy-theory thinking is that when the theorist is presented with evidence for a conspiracy that he's ideologically aligned with, it is not a conspiracy at all, but simply some people working together.
