229 pages and we've yet to tackle Havana Syndrome. it's a weird one, has happened in cities around the world, primarily to US diplomats and CIA types. it's some crazy shit out of a film.
We do have a thread on it, but it hasn't taken off. Great title too,

The "crickets" explanation seems completely ridiculous. I've also seen it suggested the relief bill's some sort of scheme to give the CIA a disguised source of funding. Apparently it's up to them where the money goes.

The most plausible explanation does seem to be microwave weapons, but who's doing it? China? Russia? The US experimenting on its own people?

It's worrying that people just can't seem to, or don't want to. The majority of people aren't really doing anything important on social media, but they somehow feel these platforms are essential.
it's actually very simple. it is normal and natural and healthy to hang out with your homies every evening. it is only relatively recently that this has become impossible, (and there are countries in which it still happens) becasue you dont necessarily live near your friends and even if you do
there are no suitable venues to gather in, and besides which you are far too tired to leave the house cos work has fucked you. so actually these platforms are 'essential' in that they allow people to socialise albeit in what is arguably a degraded and inadequate way

not only is it vital to 'shoot the shit' it is also vital to compare notes. are you frightened? are you lonely? are you suffering heart palpitations as a result of your experimental vaccine? are the 5G towers interfering with your vibrational level in alarming ways? whats happening to us?

it's been so long that I honestly can't recall what I did with all my time before the internet and social media. think of how much time you would have without being online! I was younger, had more energy and fewer commitments, so surely I went out and socialized in person more, but I probably also watched more shit TV. also knew a lot less about the world, since information was limited to network news and the dreaded NY Times.

Good point

and it was really limited, just three network channels and public broadcasting. no 400 cable channels and Netflix, we're talking literally four choices per hour, insane. no wonder 100 million+ people watched the final episode of "M*A*S*H*", there was fuck all else on!

when I was growing up, we watched those three channels on a black & white TV set! it was like space age rocket science had arrived when we got a color TV.

my dad would give me a dollar to go to the corner store to buy him two packs of cigarettes...and I could keep the change to buy some candy. cigs at 40 cents per pack, and kids allowed to buy them! and a dad would would send his kid out to buy them for him!

today's parents would be horrified, probably call social services on him.
