I seem to remember a Lenny Bruce monologue about shark's livers being the key ingedient in Preparation h. would this be true, i wonder?

"We may find the person simply floating in the water, we may find bits of clothing, at this stage we're just looking for anything..."

tag team sharks off Perth

tag teams off Adelaide

"It was quite horrific, but also quite quick"

more of the same

and, finally, the stories about Nick Peterson (a handsome young surfer) and Tyna Webb (an oap who liked to swim)

it says: "Witnesses in a helicopter described the shape of a great white shark, bigger than the machine they peered from, swimming from the scene apparently with a body in its jaws."

Yikes!

thank you for those...only the first & last worked for me, but have been having problems with australian websites recently for some reason...

dunno though...the first could be coincidence & the last looks like a nice bit off sensationalist selective journalism...the fact remains these are large predators wiith big teeth & bigger hungers...many attacks where sharks spit out humans after a bite are on surfers & i don't think anyone would argue that sharks enjoy the taste of fibreglass...& the fact that from below (& great whites attack from below) surfers look much like seals explains those attacks...then there are questions of identification...great whites are the most famous sharks & people are more likely to identify sharks as great whites rather than lets say bull sharks...sorry not seeing much science here just conjecture & sensationalism...not that it's not very interesting...i think yikes is right though...scary shit...& big teeth

the tag team theory has been offically discredited. look at the more recent articles. on the other hand lions in game reserves have learned to use the electric fences which surround the parks to corner prey.

ah well boo to you two. I think it's an evolutionary leap and it's MAD and that's official!

heh!
start a thread about the extinction of all major mammals (except people)
we all know its going to happen. 20 years you won't have any big cats, great apes, grazing animals like zebra, buffalo, gazzelles, you won't have whales and you won'#t have dolphins. its one of the major stories of our time. those animals, and many others, butterflies, thousands of species of insect, will either be entirely extinct or confined to captivity by the time we reach retirement at the very latest.

Yeah that's true. When you actually see the extinction-rate figures they're SICK. But the, you know, the sun's going to die one day so we're all doomed and nothing really matters anyway. I discovered that when I was 6. That's why I adopt all these ridiculous personas.

tiger sharks. their heads are tiny, out of proportion to their bodies, makes they look prehistoric, like they didn't need to evolve, they're prefectly functional: dim and mean

Blue sharks are the most beautiful, especially when they're in their phantom packs off the coast of Scotland.

I've run into Basking Sharks on the Gower. You have to try not to swim into their mouths, because otherwise they are sweet brutes.

It's still all about the Megamouth.
