I think it's a stunned silence as once again cricket and corruption appear to go hand in hand - not just Pakistan, I might add. Genuinely cheesed off by this - particularly snaffling a 19 yr old who really can be a world class player.

Yeah, me too. It's like - Oh, Cricket!

There's something really frustrating about Pakistan - so much talent, just no structure through which to apply it.

is anyone listening to the 2020 on tms? it's nicely poised... England need 100-odd off 90 balls.... no wickets down.... Bell cruising by the sound of things .. 2 aussie commentators ripping the shit out of vaughn... very funny

Boo!

Are there any leftish cricketers? Remember a story years back about Jack Russell & the very rightwing (and slightly loony) Peter Roebuck driving about 100 miles back to Somerset during a county match to vote, only to find their ballots cancelled each other's out.

Apart from Jack, anyone?

robucks cricket writing in the sydney morning herald is about as left leaning as journalism in this country gts so im suprised to hear that. he is a nutter though.

did he play, or just write?

think the great commentator John Arlott was leftish, and of course the batsman/bishop David Sheppard.

the Roebuck story's coming back to me more clearly - apparently Russell suggested turning round, but Roebuck insisted they carry on cos he had to "show Maggie I care"

OK, I know no one gives a toss about this elongated farce of a World Cup, but this England-India game is shaping up to be quite special. Tendulkar was just amazing in a total of 338, now Strauss is 4/5 of the way to a run-a-ball century and England are actually keeping pace.

that match was great, particularly enjoyed Anderson nailing Duminy's off stump. also, Bresnan is looking svelte after his summer in Australia (!), looking like a very good bowler too.
