in fact I would not know either from a toaster oven...

i eventually left this place but i couldn't get that mystery track out of my head. i was beginning to think i had imagined it, abstracted it from different sources, but a few years later i found it. yes it's glossy, it's bloated, but it drifts magnificently. when i hear it i'm one with the thousands of people who toil away through the night, people who want to abandon themselves to sleep but can't, who lapse into sensual reverie. to me this is the sound of the city at night.

Strangely I found the EP with this track on in a record clear out on thursday. Picked it up for the bargin price of 20yen, about a 1/5th the price of a bar of chocolate. There's another version of the track titled "The Erotic Garden - After Hours Version" which I've stuck up here.

Best late nighter of recent times for me is that matias aguayo album "are you really lost?".

Perfect.

...though the new yagya album "will i dream during the process?" is super drifty and incredibly spacious warm washy dub techno.

i visited woebot, downloaded the dr lloyd mix he recommended, which is ace, and there is a track at the end of the first bit/beginning of the second that fits the mood of this thread perfectly, can anyone make out who it's by? snippet

i don't know if it's the air i'm breathing but all this music has me feeling incredibly awake.

Hey Bruno, thanks for these kind words I hear on my first visit to Dissensus. The track you are after is by Djinji Brown from his EP on Yoruba called La Siete Potencias. Pretty recent so no problems finding I should imagine. I just finished a new mix here http://dr.lloyd.free.fr/mixes2.htm it is mix number 6. Will read the full thread here with a little more time later, but mix6 is pure night-time - feel it, baby.

Hi again, got to hear this Quincy track, which I don't think I know. Will tune into that soon and get back to you, I like the train of these thoughts, have a similar thing with a tune that has been nagging at my brain parts for a full 15 years, which I think I will never find. Will tell you about that later. Funny also that you mention Rude Movements by Sun Palace, a track I never ever managed to pick up but I was always intrigued by the descriptions I would read of it on the Resolution Records sales lists from the 90s. Someone tell me where it is on a compilation if you can.

you mean the david mancuso compilations? apparently not anymore. on amazon uk there is a copy of volume one, which has the sun palace track, going for £80. which is ridiculous. unfortunately i left mine at my parents house a few years ago and it was stolen in a standard break-in, my luck. it's probably being used as a coaster now. ll, you might want to try soulseek. i'll up it if i find it.

As an aside, the guitarist from Sun Palace emailed me about a year ago after I listed "Rude Movements" in a setlist (I guess obscure 80s 12" producers Google themselves). He said they are in discussions to rerelease a remaster of the track as well as some unreleased material. That would be nice, wouldn't it? One of my fave tracks ever.

It got into a fairly nice late night aesthetic later Friday night-Saturday morning
2:30 AM walking bk from the Dub Wars anniversary @ Avalon
Crossing the broad flat of Broadway past foggy park squares and finally the green Oval and fountain in mist
head still full of the Don Q , Joe Nice & Skream dubstep sets
Bk home get on the computer and work on music for another hour , started a Dystopian waltz
Then listened to the new Boris Album on headphones before crashed out ...

^^^another great read...

...see any dreads there ???

yep, really enjoyed reading that one. fascinating stuff martin. it seems bewhilderingly different from london. the article really makes me want to go there.

very curious as to how the set went down although i can imagine why he might not want to review his own gig. hopefully eric will post something later.

tokyo was nuts. the gig was low key but loads of fun. few dedicated heads (no dreads) and good vibes... which is perfect for me.
