Where have the UFOs gone?

The line that UFOs are usually the military testing top secret aircraft and equipment has always been the most convincing to me. That and the usual stuff about atmospheric disturbances, meteors and so on in a few cases.

I think I've seen some of this before, but all I remember is that he looks a bit like Stephen King.

A friend and I got caught out for five minutes or so on a trip once when we saw a luminous green disc flickering across the sky, but we eventually realised it was one of those spotlights they use at film premieres and whatnot.

The army testing top secret weapons and aircraft then pretending it could be aliens is still pretty exciting.

True. Rune soup has it both ways. He says it's the army testing secret tech they got from ALIENS! I'm drawn to that idea.

I'm a big fan of the crossover between science/alien type stuff and magic and mythology in films, like when the locals refer to the predator in Predator as a demon or that scrapped idea for Alien3 where the alien gets loose in a medieval monastery on a wooden planet and the monks think it's the devil. The same goes for Prince of Darkness, having Satan spitting out data streams they have to run through a computer is great.

Let's Talk About Ceps
I like the bit in the first Predator film where the local woman describes the monster as "the demon who makes trophies of man". It's like a Satanic inversion of Erich von Däniken.

I haven't read the thread to be fair, just a few of the latest posts in it, so sorry if it got posted already, but in Europe, especially Germany, there are people claiming that UFO is - of course - Nazi technology. They call it "Reichsflugscheibe", it's technical name supposedly was "Haunebu II" - just run a Google-image-search for your amusement.
