I'm revolting !

surely it takes more effort not to revolt since everyone is up in arms about something now, complaining and moaning.. even my mum complains these days, she never used to! in all honesty i don't see the point.

you also have to take into account it's likely your efforts will amount to nothing.

Yeah, it's True Love Waits alright - here's one of their FAQs

<i>Question:

What about oral sex? Is that OK? How far can I go and still be a member of Stanford True Love Waits?

True Love Waits? Is that Tom Waits daughter's band?

Haven't we already had the sexual revolution ? I'm not too sure what that was all about but i have a great name for the band and based on a true story.

Lip service and hand waving do not a revolution make or do they? I suppose you're right, maybe i just need to consolidate the many causes under one easily marketable banner and go viral. Put the big effort in with the point being, i might get laid and paid while I'm at it even if it all amounts to nothing.

Such a pity the blanket coverage afforded terrorism is taken. I think dubya is onto a winner with that one. He and successive administrations can keep revolting against that for ever by just widening the terms of reference.Piracy funds terrorism was a good one. ARRRRRGGGHHHH ME HEARTIES, I BE PLAYIN MA SOULSEEK MP3'S IN DA CLUB AND A PERCENTAGE OF PROFIT BE GOING TO AL QAEDA.

I dunno, maybe the age of revolution is dead and people subconsciously recognise that. Realising they can't make a change on their own it's easier to just sit back and enjoy the ride, let nature run it's course and plan to have a few offspring around to pick up the pieces when alls said and done ? Is abstinance really a form of revolution ? Like stop the world I want to get off now. Im just too dizzy from information overload.

on a side note Reality tv shows are pretty revolting and I'm sure it supports terrorism.

If I may once again quote a few words of perspicacity from the strangely named AGUIRRE ANON (from this thread):

... One reason I stopped reading about music was their tiresome need to sell us 'the big moment', 'the new thing', 'the spontaneous phenomenon', 'the new punk', 'the world-changing innovation' - PSEUDO-revolutions ad nausaem.

Summer of love? Never got Nixon out Indochina. Soul and Motown? Now drooling on the cabaret circuit. Reggae? Too stoned to stop Jamaica turning into a worse hell. Punk wars? Thatcher won it hands down. Hiphop? Black reaganomics fetish. Rave? A generation of thirtysomething manic depressives. Grime? A dreary symptom of Blair's education policy. History refuses to let go, you armchair Guevaras! Get real! - AGUIRRE ANON

Yeah but isn't that saying more about music journalists and their needs - ie. to be seen as breaking new ground, discovering new horizons in the eyes of their readers - rather than the need to tak a critical view of our society?

I think being critical of what you do, where you are etc is essential - it makes you a better person, no? Otherwise why don't you just live with your mum and dad who think everything you do is brilliant...
