Americans do love their benzos

In no other country have I seen them swapped and traded on a Friday afternoon after a long week at the proverbial coalface so readily

Surreal
the chemical makeup of the people is one of the threads that makes countries different from one another. boozy and boozeless places can be a key distinction. i don't think you can understand US middle class cultural production without taking benzos and antidepressants into account

shifted massively late 90’s/early 00’s

US was always boozy (dry counties etc excluded) but alprazolam was everywhere by 2005-ish, excellent for flights/flying boredom but their ubiquity has spilled over into countless lives
