Where should I eat in London?

i might drink 2 or 3 pints in a pub during that time period or might go metal (sic.) with hallucengenics (sic.)

You're probably the least metal person I've ever met, so I can't even imagine a psychedelic drug powerful enough to make you 'go metal'. It would probably have to be the fearsomely potent DMZ from Infinite Jest - the drug so bizarre "it was as if acid had itself taken acid".

If you're wearing a Slayer T-shirt next time I see you, I'll know what's happened, at least.

Had a couple of really nice meals in Margate this weekend. Hantverk & Found was good but didn't blow me away, the one that did was at Bottega Caruso. Just delish homemade pasta, mine came with shin of beef and another kind, I've forget which. It was just perfect. Salty, rich, filling. Great wine as well. First "posh" m aleal me and Katie have manged since Ivy's been born, and having kids there wasn't at all a problem.

I don't know how I feel about the art/food/hispter gentrification of these small towns. It seems like a cheap solve for a much deeper set of problems and likely to cause a degree of class based resentment amongst those who're still out of a job no matter how easy it is to get a flat white. Very weird - does hipster decadence substitute for a functional, future-facing economy? I'll start a thread if there's any interest.

Save your sheckels for Consumer Electronics and Kleistwahr on Sept 29th. It will answer some of your questions on the “England’s Hidden Reverse weirdos” thread and may recalibrate your conception of ‘sexy’.

Looking at a few places online and it looks way too posh for me but my wife wants to go there for our anniversary - i would have taken her to CookDaily in Boxpark but apparently that's not romantic enough.

its probably too late now jenks but my mate said theres a really good posh italian in bermondsey

Ahh but everyone knows the best Italian food is to be had from un-posh places that have harsh fluorescent lighting rather than dribbly candles in chianti bottles.

Or so I read here. Probably in this thread. And probably nearly a decade ago.

Thanks - I've got a couple of weeks yet so there's still time for any other suggestions if anyone has any.

i will visit london for the first time ever from october 3rd till october 7th, are there any interesting events during that time?

i'm kinda shocked how nice everybody was, literally every person goes "thank you sir", "yes sir", they'll hold the door open for you, they'll wait in line till it's their turn and so on. money goes so fast in this city, everyone is swiping cards and telephones, i bought a beer in the pub and they looked funny to me when i wanted to pay with pounds. swipe, woosh, swap - every second of every minute. i saw the clock in the tate and also went into a room that made people cry. if you go all up you can watch the tower block opposite it, it has these prefab living rooms that look like they have been designed using an in-game menu, a plant here, a sofa there (select your colour) and so on. i also saw the thames, it didn't sparkle as much as i thought it would but i still liked it. i briefly visited the african and caribbean music exhibition in hackney museum, it was small but cute and i liked it.

don't really have an opinion about the food.
