It wasn't like a normal bike that was missing a seat; the entire back half of it consisted of the rear wheel and a single diagonal crossbar. There wasn't anywhere to put a seat if you wanted to.

Bicycles without seats are always subject of jokes at my work. Can't believe you'd ride that voluntarily.

Yep, it's a trials bike. Not an about town kind of thing but something for impressing the cool kids with by doing things like hopping onto telephone boxes and other such stuff.

Also, the one I saw didn't look at all 'sporty' like those two, it just looked fucking ridiculous. The girl riding it was almost certainly a fashion student.

Anyway, I did some googling and there's plenty of bikes about which have their seat integrated into the frame. Was it like that...?

WHY DOES NO-ONE BELIEVE ME???

It was a fucking seatless bicycle. There was neither a seat nor anywhere to put a seat. That is all.

I fully expect there to be fatal accidents in east London this summer as a blinged-up limousine-cum-APC ferrying around some zillionaire Arab oil cunt on 'lympic business collides with a penny-farthing being ridden by a 'creative' sort with a bowler hat, tweed waistcoat and steampunk facial hair.

I'll be disappointed if there isn't, quite frankly.

Academia. Specifically, seeing someone go through the junior stages of humanities academia. It reminds me off the William Burroughs quote about junk as the ultimate merchandise: "the client will crawl through a sewer and beg to buy". "Can you find time somewhere in the 80 hour week you're working for average pay to fawn and crawl to us in the hopes that we'll deign to let you do the same next year, assuming we don't decide to axe your entire department for political reasons? Or maybe you want to move to Sunderland because that's the only place with any jobs going..."

I'm fucking glad I'm out, and I was in what the current government considers to be one of the more fundable bits of academia...
